What was done
A project providing native Windows ports of Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance, Deception, and Armageddon. It uses static recompilation of original Xbox discs and a custom launcher to enable rollback netplay via GGPO or GekkoNet, modeled after Tekken 6 Native Online.
MK-3D-rollback enables native PC execution of original Xbox Mortal Kombat titles by recompiling game code from user-provided disc images. The project utilizes the XboxXBERecomp pipeline to lift game code to C++ and replaces Xbox SDK components at the API level. Rollback netplay is implemented using either GGPO or GekkoNet. A Qt-based launcher manages matchmaking, lobbies, and the build process, which requires users to compile the games locally from their own discs. Recent updates have addressed controller reporting issues, ensuring that online matches correctly identify controllers and handle match finishing sequences, including fatalities and winner poses. The project is currently in development, with features like single-player modes and online connectivity functional. The author notes that the local test box is visible only in source builds. The project is documented at https://raw.githubusercontent.com/jstackzz/mk-3d-rollback/HEAD/README.md.
