FIELDIV-ENGINE is an alpha-stage toolset for King's Field IV (PS2) that enables level porting from original King's Field games, map editing, and gameplay patches like HUD modifications and custom controls.
The FIELDIV-ENGINE is a collection of Python-based tools designed for the PAL version of King's Field IV. It facilitates the porting of geometry, textures, and decor from earlier King's Field titles into the KFIV engine, while maintaining collision and integrating with existing game objects like secret walls, chests, and healing fountains. The project also provides a map editor and patches for HUD elements and control schemes. The author reports that the majority of the codebase was developed with the assistance of Claude (Anthropic's AI), which was directed and play-tested by the author using the PCSX2 emulator. Commit logs confirm the use of Claude Opus 5.5 for iterative development, including the implementation of new enemy types like the Kraken. The project builds upon community reverse-engineering efforts, specifically referencing the kfiv-decomp repository for decompilation data. The tools are currently in an alpha state and require a local installation of Python 3 to execute.
Reproduce it
Download the FIELDIV-ENGINE.zip from the project releases. Ensure a valid PAL King's Field IV ISO is present. Install Python 3 and run FIELDIV-ENGINE.exe to access the menu for level porting, map editing, or patching.
