What was done
Voicedrew used Claude Code to build Verdite2, a playable PC port of the PS1 game King's Field that needs the player's own disc.
Voicedrew spent a couple of months using Claude Code to port the 1995 PlayStation game King's Field (US) to PC. The port, called Verdite2, is playable from start to finish on Windows and Linux.
How it was done
Verdite2 describes itself as an AI driven port and builds on RecompOne, a PS1 recompiler by BlackLabelHQ, which the author credits and asks people to support. The author says Claude Code did the porting work. The repo's notes do not detail the process, and the models are not named.
Results
The game runs at high frame rates without speed banding. The port adds widescreen support, anisotropic filtering, per-pixel lighting, smooth fog, keyboard and mouse controls, twin-stick controls and mod support. It is MIT licensed and ships no game data. Players must supply their own dump of the North American release in .chd or bin/cue form. The project says it is independent and not endorsed by FromSoftware or BlackLabelHQ. The author shared a video of the port, and a release is on GitHub.
