What was done

LasVola God Hand Recompiled runs the PS2 brawler from code recompiled with PS2Recomp, tested from the opening through stage 2 and into stage 3. Work in progress, no game files shipped.

LasVola is building a native Windows port of God Hand (PS2, 2006) with AI assistance: Claude Code as the main builder and OpenAI Codex reviewing. The port recompiles the main program with PS2Recomp and runs it on a runtime that reimplements PS2 hardware. It is a work in progress: no game files are included and players bring their own USA disc image.

How it was done

Function boundaries come from the god-hand-decomp symbol list. The main program is recompiled to C++, and the tools/snr2 tool relocates and recompiles each of the 81 code overlays the game loads for rooms, events and the memory card, with the port installing the right one as the game loads it. The VU1 coprocessor programs some 3D effects use are captured at run time and compiled ahead of time by a vu1_recomp tool. The runtime ports graphics, sound and IOP work, drawing on PS2Recomp forks, PCSX2 graphics code and the Urban Reign port runtime, with every game specific fix commented where it is made.

Results

Tested play through stage 1 and 2 in full and the first area of stage 3: fighting, bosses, dying and continuing, cutscenes, the casino minigames, the God Reel roulette and saving all work at 60 fps at three times internal resolution on a modern PC. Keyboard, mouse and controllers work with in-game rebinding. The closing stages, final bosses and ending are not verified yet and may misbehave. The port is GPL-3.0 like PS2Recomp and carries no game data.
