What was done
literalynn recompiled the MIPS code of Burnout Dominator to C++ with PS2Recomp, emulating the rest of the console, so the game boots, runs races and saves to a memory card on PC.
Burnout Dominator Reversed is a recompilation of Burnout Dominator for the PlayStation 2 into a native PC game. Commits in the repository carry Claude Fable co-author trailers.
How it was done
The game's MIPS R5900 code is translated to C++ with PS2Recomp. The rest of the console is emulated (IOP, SPU2, VU0, VU1 and IPU), and the Graphics Synthesizer runs on the graphics card through paraLLEl-GS. The user supplies their own European disc image (SLES-54627) and the installer checks its SHA256. No game data is included.
Results
The README status table marks boot, intro videos, menus, World Tour and car select as working, along with races (cars, damage, reflections, traffic, HUD, crashes and results), memory card saves, save states, and gamepads or keyboard. Speed is about 25 to 30 frames per second out of 50 in a race. Race sound and steering with a real pad over a full event are not yet checked.
