What was done

TekRantGaming directed Claude Code to turn the Xbox 360 King Kong game into a native Windows port with a launcher, upscaling and controls. It plays past the intro freeze that stops the Xenia emulator.

TekRantGaming made a native Windows port of Peter Jackson's King Kong (Xbox 360, 2005) by translating the game's code with the ReXGlue SDK. The README says the port was made almost entirely with Claude Code: the owner directed and tested the work, and the AI did the analysis, code, tools and documentation.

How it was done

ReXGlue translates the Xbox 360 PowerPC code to native code, building on the work behind Xenia and XenonRecomp. Claude Code wrote the game-specific layer around it: a launcher that installs from the player's own disc, the options and controls, upscaling, achievements pop-ups and an update channel. For testing, a developer build can press through the intros and menus into gameplay on its own and log when gameplay is reached. A shader pack is built by running every chapter that way.

Results

The README says the port plays past the opening "VENTURE" freeze that stops Xenia, and lists resolutions up to 8K, frame rates up to 240 or unlimited, FSR 1 and NIS upscaling, a wider field of view, any controller or keyboard and mouse, and the game's single-player cheats as switches. It runs on Windows and on Linux through Proton. No game files are included, so you bring your own disc. It is an unofficial fan project.
