Recompiled Jet Set Radio Future (Xbox) into a Windows program, with Claude writing most of the code

Jet Set Radio Future (Xbox, 2002): The Xbox game as a native Windows exe, also on Steam Deck.

What was done

Miggas directed Claude to translate the Xbox executable of Jet Set Radio Future into C and build it as a Windows program. It runs on Windows 10 and 11 and on the Steam Deck through Proton.

Miggas made a native Windows version of Jet Set Radio Future by translating the original Xbox game program. The README says most of the code was written by Claude, directed, tested and played through by Miggas, and that the commit history marks Claude as co-author.

How it was done

The game's own program is translated once into C code on the user's computer, and that code is compiled into a normal Windows exe. The Xbox's graphics, sound, controllers and memory card are recreated by the runtime in the xboxrecomp folder. Nothing from the game is in the repository, so the user needs their own copy. The README rates each setup step easy, medium or hard.

Results

The README says the game was played from start to finish this way. It runs on Windows 10 and 11 and on the Steam Deck through Proton 11, and a portable build option is documented. Local multiplayer works with up to four players.
