What was done
maxgraf96 worked with Claude Code agents to recompile Empire Earth's 32-bit x86 code to native arm64 on first start, giving a Mac app with single player, saves, movies and LAN play.
ee-macos lets Empire Earth (2001) run natively on Apple Silicon Macs without Wine, Rosetta or an emulator. The README says it is one developer working with Claude Code agents, one on the Mac and one driving a Windows reference machine.
How it was done
On first start the app takes the user's own GOG copy of Empire Earth Gold and recompiles the game's 32-bit x86 code into native arm64 code on the Mac. That code runs on a small runtime that stands in for the Windows pieces the game expects. Because of the second agent on a Windows machine, every change is checked against Windows behaviour rather than reviewed by eye.
Results
Release 0.8.2 (October 2026) lists single player, saved games, music, movies and LAN multiplayer with unmodified Windows players as working. Direct Connect and Tailscale do not work with GOG copies, as the README notes. Release 0.7 passed its first test on a Mac with no developer tools installed.
