What was done
kayliox is decompiling the PS2 game Transformers, with AI writing first drafts that are accepted only if they compile to the original bytes.
kayliox is writing a matching decompilation of Transformers for the PlayStation 2 (Atari and Melbourne House, 2004), released in North America as Transformers Armada: Prelude to Energon. The README is upfront that AI is used, and commits carry Claude co-author trailers.
How it was done
A matching decompilation means turning more than 22,000 functions of machine code back into source that compiles to exactly the same bytes as the original. The author says AI writes the first drafts but nothing is accepted on its word. Every function is checked byte for byte with the original compiler, and after every change the whole game is rebuilt and compared with the original. No game data is included and users need their own copy.
Results
The README progress table shows 7,108 of 22,295 functions matched on 2026-10-16 (7.4% of the executable's code) and 10,661 on 2026-10-17 (14.7%).
