What was done
Sebastian Brabetz used Codex to help work out the radio remote of his MCZ MUSA 2.0 AIR pellet stove, then built an ESPHome and Home Assistant controller from the recorded frames.
Sebastian Brabetz used ChatGPT 6 Astra (medium) in Codex to help reverse engineer the 434.50 MHz radio remote of his MCZ MUSA 2.0 AIR pellet stove. He recorded the remote's ON and OFF frames and replayed them from an ESP32 board, so Home Assistant can switch the stove.
How it was done
A receiver module on a Seeed XIAO ESP32C6 recorded the original remote's signals, and the recorded frames passed the checksum check. A CC1101 transmitter, set to 434.50 MHz from the stove manual, sends the frames back through ESPHome. Codex helped with the reverse engineering, the ESPHome build and the enclosure design. The repo ships the transmitter config with empty frame placeholders, so each owner records the frames from their own remote.

ON and OFF worked, and the author confirmed ON on the stove's display. The published Home Assistant script is deliberately simple: it heats at level 5 until the target temperature is reached, then sends OFF. A restart scheme with a 15 minute minimum off time is planned but not built yet. The repo includes the ESPHome YAML, Home Assistant scripts, a dashboard, wiring notes and a 3D-printed case with four STL files. The README warns against bypassing the stove's own safety controls and says other stove models are untested.
