What was done
liolu Heroes of Mana decomp reaches 20.65 percent byte-matched code through the DS Decomp Studio agent pipeline, with the ROM rebuilding exactly and no game assets committed.
liolu Heroes of Mana decompilation rebuilds the 2007 Square Enix DS game against its original ARM code, matching functions so the ROM rebuilds byte for byte. It runs on the DS Decomp Studio pipeline, the same agent market already listed on this site as a work queue for dozens of Nintendo DS titles, and its AGENTS.md carries the rules the agents work from. No game assets are in the repository.
How it was done
The project targets the European release with game code AHEP, builds with Metrowerks mwccarm while the exact compiler version is still identified, and counts nothing until it compiles to the exact same bytes with the whole ROM rebuilding. 4,061 functions are matched as raw m2c output still to clean up, 229 more are reused from other decompilations before merging, and the NitroSDK, NitroSystem and MSL library sections are being finished one at a time. The bytematch badge on the repository recomputes the numbers itself, so progress stays honest.
Results
As of 19 October 2026 the code match stands at 20.65 percent, with 4,829 of 9,265 functions done and data at 75.27 percent. It is early work on a long decompilation, useful for anyone continuing this game or the shared NitroSDK library work across the pipeline. The same author runs parallel agent decompilations of Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man: Web of Shadows, The Simpsons Game, Spyro: Shadow Legacy and Resident Evil: Deadly Silence on DS, and this one is the furthest along of the bunch after Ultimate Spider-Man.
