What was done
consolesplayingconsoles runs a per-function agent loop, defined in AGENTS.md, to decompile Crazy Taxi, accepting C that behaves like the original and treating byte-identical matches as a bonus.
This is an in-progress decompilation of Crazy Taxi for the Sega Dreamcast. The repo has an AGENTS.md describing the per-function loop, and commits carry Claude co-author trailers.
How it was done
A function counts as done when its C behaves like the original, checked by an equivalence tool. Byte-identical C is the bonus tier. The build rebuilds the game's executable byte for byte from one assembly file per function, with equivalent C for a growing share of functions. Tools include a disc reader, splitter, text and model mappers, an SH-4 disassembler and simulator, and the equivalence checker. The repository contains no game code or data, and setup generates everything game-derived on the user's machine from their own disc.
Results
The README progress block tracks the counts. A companion explorer site shows the game's models, skeletons, animations, textures, images, sounds, text and side-by-side C and assembly. The author also has sister Dreamcast decompilations using the same approach.
