What was done
xenophobentx statically recompiled the original Xbox Burnout 3: Takedown into a native program for Mac, Windows, Linux, Steam Deck and Android handhelds, building it with Claude agents.
Takedawn is an unofficial static recompilation of the original Xbox version of Burnout 3: Takedown. The author writes in the README that Claude coding agents do much of the typing.
How it was done
The Xbox game runs as a native program rather than in an emulator, with its own cars, tracks, textures and physics. The user points Takedawn at a disc image of their own NTSC-U copy, and the program installs the game data from it. No game data, textures, models, sound or shader cache is distributed. The README describes a test setup with scratch profiles, an AI driver, headless scenes and frame-time tools.
Results
Compared with the console, the README lists up to 4x resolution, widescreen and ultrawide, 60 fps crash cameras, music and 60 fps in split screen, and custom soundtracks from the user's own MP3 or FLAC files. Builds exist for Mac, Windows, Linux, the Steam Deck and Android handhelds. Full speed needs about a Steam Deck's power. Commit messages in the repository carry Claude co-author trailers.
