What was done
moozilla directs Claude and GPT agents, with subagent teams, to write a matching decompilation of Boktai 3 and a studio for reading and editing the game's text, graphics, maps and scripts.
This project is a matching decompilation of Boktai 3 (GBA, U33J). The README says it is entirely agent-driven: all code and documentation is written by AI agents (Claude Opus 5.5, GPT-6 Astra and GPT-6.1 Sol, with teams of Sonnet, Haiku and Luna subagents) that the author directs and reviews.
How it was done
The C source compiles back to the original ROM byte for byte, from a base ROM the user supplies. The author says they were inspired by Chris Lewis's posts on decompiling Snowboard Kids with coding agents, and wants to see how deep fully agentic decompilation can go. Libraries such as MP2K sound, libgcc, fdlibm, RTC, EEPROM and the RFU wireless SDK are matched in C. The scene scripts run on GCL, the scripting system Konami also used in Metal Gear Solid.
Results
The ROM rebuilds byte-identical, and PROGRESS.md and the README badges track the rest. A local studio lets users read and edit text, graphics, maps and scripts, with a screen inspector that matches sprites, text boxes, layers and palettes to resources, and a live mode through mGBA.
