What was done
Gustavo Canepa reuses his Gran Turismo 4 tools on Tourist Trophy, copying matches between the two games where functions are identical.
Gustavo Canepa is building a matching decompilation of Tourist Trophy (PS2), with Claude agents doing most of the matching. His README reports 22,501 of 31,593 functions matched, 71.2%, as of October 2026. The work is still in progress.
How it was done
Tourist Trophy is built on the Gran Turismo 4 code base with the same compiler, Sony's ee-gcc 2.96. The README says 3,232 functions are identical to ones already matched in the GT4 project, so a script copies those matches across. The rest are matched by Claude agents, with a local drafter model also used according to the commit history. Each result is checked by the compiler and a judge script.
Results
The README says 32.3% of the code bytes match and 86.1% of the sources are clean. The full build still reproduces the original executable. The repository holds no game data. It is a decompilation, not a port.
