What was done

CosmicScribe64 directs Claude Code in a matching decompilation of Tokimeki Memorial (PS1). The boot executable and all 26 overlays rebuild identically, and the long-term plan is an English Godot port.

CosmicScribe64 is decompiling Tokimeki Memorial, the Japanese PlayStation the Best release, so that C source rebuilds the original executables byte for byte. The README says Claude Code wrote most of the code and documentation, directed by the maintainer, and that agents and humans follow the same coding rules.

How it was done

The build runs in Docker. It splits the executables into assembly, compiles the C, links, and checks every binary against the original, printing one OK per binary. Functions not yet written in C are pulled in as assembly, so the build matches at every stage. The game code was built with an early SGI IDO 5.3 MIPS compiler rather than the usual GCC, so the build adds a few small steps that reproduce the original compiler's differences, each applied as one rule to every function. Many names come from the symbol map in the game's own developer build and are treated as unconfirmed.

Results

The boot executable and all 26 overlays already rebuild identically, and CI checks the match and the SHA-1 of every binary on each push. Progress badges on decomp.dev show how much is C so far. The roadmap has five phases, ending in an English-translated Godot port, and the translation is planned to use AI only as a placeholder for human translators. No game data is included.
