What was done
Claude Code decoded captures, wrote GAL equations and test tools while the owner did all measurements and soldering on the Roctec RocHard RH800C.
A single owner repaired a faulty Roctec RocHard RH800C, a 1990 Amiga 500 expansion with an IDE controller and fast RAM sockets, working with Claude through Claude Code. Two read-protected GAL logic chips were replaced with rebuilt designs, and the card now autoboots Workbench.
How it was done
The human did every measurement, all soldering and rework, GAL programming and all tests on real Amigas. Claude analysed logic-analyser and scope captures, reasoned from the netlist about how the logic must work, and wrote the GAL designs, 68000 test tools, disk image scripts and documentation. It also ran emulator experiments to separate software faults from hardware ones.
The repo has an AI usage page that lists where Claude was wrong, and says every mistake was caught by real measurement.
Results
The status table lists IDE and CompactFlash as working, with Workbench 3.1.4 booting. Autoconfig works, and 2 MB of fast RAM is stable with 4 MB working. SCSI is untested. Only the UA6 and UA3b chips were replaced. The repo also has a hand-drawn schematic and a 3D-printed faceplate model.
