What was done
ClickingMaster directed Claude Code to recompile the ARM9 code of Pokemon SoulSilver to C++, using the pokeheartgold decompilation, with melonDS providing the DS hardware. It runs on one screen on Linux and Windows.
ssrecomp is a native build of Pokemon SoulSilver for single-screen devices. The README says nearly all the code, documentation and testing was done by Claude through Claude Code, directed and play-tested by the maintainer.
How it was done
The game's ARM9 code is statically recompiled to C++ from the build output of the pokeheartgold decompilation. A vendored melonDS 1.1 core, with a few patches, supplies the DS graphics, sound, cartridge, save memory and ARM7. A setup program takes the user's own .nds file and builds the game locally. The first build takes 20 to 40 minutes.
Results
The README shows the overworld drawn across a 16:9 screen and battles with touch-screen buttons laid out along the bottom, played with a controller. Setup programs exist for Linux (x86-64 and arm64) and Windows, and an experimental Android build is made on the PC from the same ROM. The repository holds the recompiler, runtime and frontend only. The README asks users not to submit the AI-written code to pret.
