What was done
MegaManX5Recomp allows playing Mega Man X5 on PC using a recompiled engine. It includes experimental local and online co-op for X and Zero, with custom resolution scaling and diagnostic tools. Full campaign parity remains under active development.
MegaManX5Recomp is a recompiled version of the PlayStation game Mega Man X5 for PC. The project provides an experimental mode for simultaneous X and Zero co-op, which requires the use of OpenGL. The author reports that the current build includes 23 passing owner-report checks, though two gaps remain outstanding. The project provides a launcher to manage disc images, BIOS selection, and controller assignments. Users can configure internal resolution from 1x to 32x, subject to hardware and memory constraints. The co-op implementation is considered experimental, and the author notes that full campaign and netplay parity are still being verified. The project tracks individual passes, failures, and remaining gaps in a parity burndown. The author documents that some specific encounters, cooldowns, and rendering scenarios require further validation. The project is available at https://raw.githubusercontent.com/mstan/megamanx5recomp/HEAD/README.md.
Reproduce it
Extract the playtest package, run MegaManX5Recomp.exe, select a valid SLUS-01334 disc image in the launcher, and ensure OpenGL is selected for co-op features.
