Ips3: PS3 Emulator Port for iPad

What was done

An iPad app based on the open RPCS3/ARMSX3 core adds iOS-specific memory mapping, JIT and UI support; the repository says device testing is still pending.

Ips3 adapts the open RPCS3-based ARMSX3 PlayStation 3 emulator for iPad. It replaces the Android shell with a C bridge and SwiftUI app, uses MoltenVK for graphics, and adds changes for iOS’s memory and JIT restrictions. The repository targets a 10th-generation iPad and requires sideloading with JIT enabled.

Compatibility work and status

The README explains several iOS-specific changes: reducing a large reserved address-space region, using Mach memory entries for shared mappings, and replacing the core’s MAP_JIT flow with a write-then-execute page strategy. Recent repository status says CI can build the core and unsigned IPA, but the app has not yet been run on a device. Device compatibility is therefore unverified.

AI contribution

Claude Opus 5.5 co-authored low-level iOS compatibility changes, including ARM64 platform detection and memory remapping with vm_remap. Other co-authored commits update Objective-C++ build support and the iPad UI. The project ports an open-source emulator; it does not include PS3 game data or claim to reverse engineer a particular game.
