What was done

feanor-noldorin port statically recompiles the PS3 Collection version of ICO with ps3recomp and boots to gameplay at 48 to 60 fps, installing from the player own dump through RPCS3 decryption.

feanor-noldorin ICO PC port recompiles the PS3 Collection rerelease of ICO into a native Windows program with the sp00nznet ps3recomp toolkit. The early commit history carries Co-Authored-By: Claude trailers, so AI agents helped build the port. Releases ship only an installer: it decrypts the game self from the player own dump with RPCS3, recompiles on the machine, installs and refuses every version except the US release its code points were cut from.

How it was done

The pipeline loads the PPU executable, lifts about 64 megabytes of code into C++, builds a handler table of firmware NIDs and lifts six SPU images plus two overlays and the ATRAC audio codec from the firmware folder RPCS3 provides. Every file hash, code end point and run setting for the supported release lives in a profile file. The D3D12 backend of the shared RSX draw engine took the first build from under one frame per second to 48 to 60 in 3D scenes, with shader caches, re-lifted PPU code and AVX2 SPU maths.

Results

The v0.1.0 alpha boots to the title menu, plays the opening cinematic with fog, sepia, bloom and letterboxing and reaches gameplay. Music and effects work with short glitches when a track starts, controllers work in menus, saves are stored but untested, and long play sessions still need confirmation. One run in three can close within its first seconds, a startup crash the project tracks in its release notes. Only the US release is supported; the roadmap covers full gameplay confirmation, keyboard and mouse and a graphics settings menu. The repository ships no game files, firmware or keys.
