Dark Sun: Shattered Lands (DOS, 1993): A 1993 RPG leaving DOSBox for a native build.

What was done

The 16-bit SSI RPG runs as translated C on a small emulated PC layer: intro, menus and the first arena scene play with the original music and speech drivers.

A static recompilation translates the 16-bit DOS code of Dark Sun: Shattered Lands into C and compiles it natively for Windows and Linux, on a small emulated PC layer for the BIOS, VGA, timer, mouse and XMS rather than a full DOSBox install. Every sampled commit carries Claude Fable 5.1 as co-author.

How it was done

A memory image of the game is built from the player GOG copy, functions located with helper tools, and lifted into C with the project own scripts, with wake of the ravager planned on the same program. The sound drivers are translated too so the original FM music and digital speech play as the game expects. The repository contains no game data or code: everything derived from the disc is generated on the player machine and kept out of git.

Results

The README reports the intro, the main menu, START GAME, the first arena scene in Draj with its scripted fight, and party walking all running, with the sound drivers working. Status and design docs are committed, and the data CD path for the 1994 expansion is already mapped in the build scripts while its port remains future.
