What was done

JorgeMayo11789 had Claude Code reverse engineer ARK on PC and write a small DLL that revives its console splitscreen for two local players, in single player only.

ArkSplitscreen is a DLL mod that brings back top and bottom 2 player splitscreen in ARK: Survival Evolved on Steam. The console versions have it, and the PC game still contains that code, switched off and broken. The README says all the code, the reverse engineering and the analysis tools were written by Claude in Claude Code.

How it was done

The author played every build and gave Claude notes on each bug, with screenshots, until it worked. The DLL switches the code back on and fixes what breaks. It checks every spot it patches and skips its fixes on any game version other than the pinned beta build (358.26), and passes controller input through otherwise. It is for single player only. The README says never to use it on official or BattlEye protected servers, and the game is launched without BattlEye.

Results

Player 2 joins with a stable id and their own save. Each player gets their own HUD and hotbar, the lighting and texture bugs on the second half are fixed, the world loads around both players, and the pause menu can teleport or swap screens. It was tested on The Island. Only two players and top and bottom layout are supported, and online and listen server play are untested.
