Working with Claude Code, Angel Salinas rescued a boot-looping Alcatel Pixi 3 (10) tablet and booted LineageOS 14.1 by borrowing a sibling kernel and rebuilding the display driver from the stock one.
Angel Salinas rescued an Alcatel OneTouch Pixi 3 (10) WiFi tablet, model 8080, that was stuck in a boot loop. He then booted LineageOS 14.1 (Android 7.1.2) on it, working with Claude Code for the reverse engineering, the scripts and the write-up.
How it was done
Alcatel never released the kernel source for this MediaTek MT8127 tablet. The repo takes the kernel of a sibling device, the Telekom Puls, and adds the pieces the 8080 needs. The display driver was rebuilt by locating and disassembling the panel driver inside the stock kernel binary, which recovered its timings, init sequence and GPIOs. The same work found the touch controller's I2C bus, the right charger chip, a GPIO that powers the panel and an eMMC revision the kernel rejected. Hardware data was also read from the running stock kernel. The docs are in Spanish, with an English summary in the README.
Results
On one unit, the tablet boots to the launcher with working display, touch, WiFi, storage and adb. Rotation is fixed but not confirmed, and the camera, Bluetooth and GPS are untested. The battery curve and pin table still come from the Puls. The repo holds patches, scripts and notes only, with no firmware, ROM or kernel binaries.
