What was done
RodoLy has fully decompiled Harvest Moon (SNES) into readable C code, verified against the original binary. The project provides a native PC build that executes the C functions directly, bypassing CPU emulation, and includes features like widescreen and save states.
The project HarvestMoonSnesDecomp provides a complete decompilation of the SNES game Harvest Moon. The author reports that 100% of the game code, comprising 45,176 instructions and 778 routines, has been rewritten into readable C. Each routine is verified byte-for-byte against the original memory, including WRAM and CPU registers. The project builds on community disassembly work by ElisaS-Codes and DasK. The author states that the native PC build executes the decompiled C functions directly, removing the need for CPU emulation. Graphics and sound chips from the original console are handled by software components included in the repository. The developer confirms the use of AI in the development process, noting that they directed and supervised every step, including testing and decision-making. The project offers a beta release for Windows, requiring the user to provide their own legally obtained ROM for the build process.
