dc-core provides tools for static SH-4 recompilation and asset extraction to enable native Dreamcast game ports. It supports projects like Tennis 2K2 and Rush 2049, utilizing Claude Opus 5.5 for development tasks including interpreter implementation and GL diagnostics.
dc-core is a framework for creating native ports of Dreamcast games. It provides tools for GDI disc image extraction, PowerVR2 texture decoding, and a static SH-4 to C recompiler. The recompiler handles integer and FPU instructions, delay slots, and call-target discovery. Recompiled functions maintain original calling conventions, allowing direct integration with C code. The project includes a runtime for CPU context, RAM access, and HLE overrides. The author reports that Tennis 2K2 (US v1.009) has 7,018 functions recompiled, with ball physics matching the original. Development is documented in jkod/dc-core. Claude Opus 5.5 is credited as a co-author on numerous commits, contributing to the implementation of an interpreter fallback for non-recompiled code, OpenGL diagnostic tools, and HUD adjustments. The framework does not contain game data and requires the user's own disc images. Testing includes hand-assembled SH-4 snippets and PVR round-trip verification.
