An open-source server for EverQuest Online Adventures: Frontiers, with protocol formats checked against the PS2 client decompilation and packet captures.
eqoa-server is an open-source server implementation for EverQuest Online Adventures: Frontiers. The project documents both the PS2 retail client and a native client logging in, creating characters, and playing against the server. Its protocol work is checked against a matching decompilation of the game's networking code and packet captures from the retail client.
The server combines several services: TCP authentication, UDP gameplay, and an HTTP patch endpoint. The README lists implemented game systems including world entry, movement, combat, NPCs, equipment, chat, guilds, factions, class mastery, training, and the player list. It also supports the PS2 hard-disk setup flow, though payloads needed for that flow come from separate projects.
The code is written in Go. The repository gives build and configuration instructions and identifies a sibling dependency for parsing the game's byte streams. No game, world, or database data is included. This is a fan project and is not affiliated with Sony Online Entertainment or Daybreak.
