What was done

pyatomberg is a Python library that reverse-engineers Atomberg smart home protocols, enabling cloud-based control and offline operations for locks and fans, bypassing official developer portal restrictions.

The pyatomberg library provides an asynchronous Python interface for interacting with Atomberg smart home devices, including smart locks, ceiling fans, and water purifiers. The author reports that the library was developed to overcome limitations in the official Atomberg Developer API, which is inaccessible to users without registered smart ceiling fans. By reverse-engineering the official mobile application, the library implements a dual-layer control system: a Universal Cloud Layer using AWS Cognito OAuth2 with PKCE for device discovery, and a 100% offline local layer. The local layer supports AES-128 cryptographic primitives, protocol frame serialization, and offline dynamic OTP generation for smart door locks. For ceiling fans, the library facilitates local UDP broadcast monitoring on port 5625. The author documents that while SL1 and SL1 Pro locks and various fan models are hardware-verified, water purifiers and Cypheo Elite locks are currently only API-modeled. Development was assisted by Claude and Antigravity, as documented in the repository commit history. Source: pyatomberg README.
