What was done
A Python-based Linux daemon that enables the Sudokoo SK700V CPU cooler display by reverse-engineering the vendor's HID protocol to feed live CPU metrics.
The sk700v-linux project provides Linux support for the LCD on the Sudokoo SK700V CPU cooler (USB 381c:0003). The display remains blank on Linux by default because the vendor's MasterCraft application is Windows-only. The author reverse-engineered the HID protocol by observing USB traffic via usbmon while running the official application through Wine and performing trial-and-error testing with custom payloads. The resulting Python daemon reads CPU frequency, load, power, and temperature from standard Linux interfaces and transmits them to the device using 64-byte HID output reports. The project includes a systemd service, udev rules, and a probe tool. The author reports that the service requires root privileges to access RAPL power counters; running as a normal user results in power readings of 0. The project was developed with the assistance of Claude Opus 5.5, which the commit credits as a co-author for hands-on terminal tasks including traffic capture and code implementation.
