Rundown is an open-source, browser-based camera management tool for live TV performances. It allows directors to plan cuts against timecode or musical beats and provides synced operator views for camera crews, with integration for OBS and vMix.
Rundown is a browser-based camera management system designed for live music performances. The tool allows directors to plan camera cuts synchronized to SMPTE timecode or musical bars and beats. It features a live view with a scrolling shot waterfall, per-camera countdowns, and program video monitoring. The system supports integration with OBS (via WebSocket v5) and vMix (via HTTP API) to automate switching. Camera operators can access a synced view on mobile devices, providing them with cut flows, countdowns, and individual shot lists. The project was developed using a "vibe-coding" methodology, where the author iterated on the web and iOS applications by describing requirements to an AI coding assistant, specifically Claude Code and Claude Opus 5.5. The author notes that the project is an independent hobby project and advises users to expect rough edges and perform their own testing before use in professional environments. The codebase includes end-to-end tests for timecode synchronization using LTC and MTC. Documentation and source code are available at https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ronaldrupp/rundown/HEAD/README.md.
