What was done

Project Pyrrhus is a work-in-progress static recompilation of Killzone 2 (PS3) for Windows x64. It translates game code to native C++ ahead of time, reimplementing PS3 system libraries on PC APIs. It is currently in an early, partly playable state.

Project Pyrrhus is an unofficial static recompilation of the 2009 PlayStation 3 title Killzone 2 for Windows x64. The project utilizes ps3recomp to translate the game's PowerPC (PPU) and Cell SPU code into native C++ ahead of time, avoiding the use of a CPU emulator during gameplay. The project reimplements PS3 system libraries and hardware behavior using PC APIs, such as Direct3D 12 for graphics. As of late October 2026, the port is considered early and partly playable; the first level, Corinth River, loads and runs, with hand-tested support for DualShock 4 controllers including motion sensors. The project is tested under Proton on Linux and Windows 10. Performance in scripted runs is approximately 23 frames per second, compared to the original 30 FPS on PS3. The project does not contain game assets, code, or firmware, requiring users to provide their own disc dumps. Development is documented via GitHub, with recent commits addressing input latency and SPU job scheduling.
