What was done

A native recompiled version of the 1991 Amiga game James Pond 2: Codename RoboCod for modern platforms, featuring widescreen support, smooth motion, and save states.

James Pond 2: Codename RoboCod – Recompiled is a native port of the 1991 Amiga game for Windows, macOS, Linux, Steam Deck, and PlayStation 5. The project works by translating the original 68000 assembly code into C++, allowing the game to run natively rather than through emulation. The author reports that this implementation adds features absent in the original, including true widescreen rendering, smooth motion at arbitrary display refresh rates, a pause menu with save slots, level selection, CRT filters, and controller rumble. The recompiler was developed with assistance from Claude, as documented in commit logs. Users must provide their own Amiga disk images (e.g., .adf, .adz, or WHDLoad installs) to play, as no game data is included. While the recompiled version supports most common disk images, the original Millennium release and certain raw-track dumps are not yet supported. The project includes automated testing tools such as --menu-shot and --audio to verify game state and output.
