This project provides a native Linux port of the Xbox 360 game Espgaluda II Black Label using static recompilation. It supports all six game modes, utilizes a Vulkan-based renderer, and requires user-provided game files to function.
The project provides a native Linux port of the Xbox 360 version of Espgaluda II Black Label, achieved through static recompilation using the ReXGlue SDK. The game code is recompiled to C++ ahead of time, eliminating CPU emulation and JIT. Graphics are handled by a Vulkan renderer ported from reNut, while system calls are reimplemented in C++. Audio remains emulated via FFmpeg to decode XMA streams. The port supports all six game modes, including Black Label, Arrange, and Arcade. Performance testing on hardware such as the Steam Deck and AMD handhelds indicates the native renderer maintains 60 updates per second. The author reports that LLM assistance was used during the porting process under direct supervision, review, and testing. While the port is functional, the author notes that certain features like two-player mode and replays require further testing, and Intel GPU support remains untested. The project is documented at https://raw.githubusercontent.com/cerroverb/espgaluda2-recomp/HEAD/README.md.
Reproduce it
Download the release archive for the target architecture, provide the game's .iso or extracted .xex files in the game_data directory, and execute the espgaluda2-recomp.sh script.
