What was done

Nick used Claude Code and Frida to reverse-engineer WeChat’s Linux client, then built a programmable interface for reading and sending messages through an API, CLI, Wechaty puppet and OpenClaw plugin.

The author describes a two-week reverse-engineering effort on the official WeChat Linux client. Claude Code was the primary reverse engineer: it identified the WCDB/SQLCipher setup, wrote Frida scripts to inspect memory and recover cipher keys, worked out image decryption, and traced service-registry and chat-selection structures. The resulting agent-wechat project exposes supported client operations through a REST API, CLI, Wechaty puppet and OpenClaw extension. The author also documents updating the analysis after a WeChat version change, including finding new offsets for aarch64 and x86_64.
