Human work and limitations
The integration is strictly cloud-based and relies on the official Twin Eagles API. It is designed with a pluggable client layer to potentially support local polling in the future.

What was done

An unofficial Home Assistant integration for Twin Eagles pellet grills, reverse-engineered from the official Android app to enable remote monitoring and control of running grills via the manufacturer's cloud API.

The ha-twin-eagles project provides an unofficial Home Assistant integration for Twin Eagles pellet grills, specifically tested on the 36" built-in model TE01V4. The integration functions by communicating with the manufacturer's cloud service using an API reverse-engineered from the official Android application. The integration supports monitoring of pit and probe temperatures, as well as operational status such as fan, ignitor, and auger states. Users can adjust the set temperature, cooking mode, and sear levels for grills that are already running. However, the integration deliberately lacks the capability to start or stop the grill, and the client library enforces this restriction by refusing commands if the device is offline or idle. Development of the integration involved contributions from Claude Opus 5.5, as documented in the project's commit history. The codebase includes a standalone CLI tool for status reporting and utilizes pytest-homeassistant-custom-component for testing.
