What was done

Rush2049PC is a native PC port of the N64 game San Francisco Rush 2049, built from a decompilation. It requires a user-provided ROM to function and supports Windows and Linux, offering features like high-frame-rate rendering, texture upscaling, and controller remapping.

Rush2049PC is a native PC port of the N64 title San Francisco Rush 2049 (USA). The project utilizes a decompilation approach similar to the SM64 PC port, where the game's C code is compiled for PC and a custom layer replaces the original N64 hardware. The port does not include game data; users must provide their own ROM, which the program reads at startup. The project is currently in a beta candidate state, supporting Windows and Linux (x86-64 and aarch64). It features an F1 settings overlay for remapping controls, adjusting video settings, and managing N64 accessories like controller and rumble paks. Texture upscaling is supported via a built-in neural network or external packs. Development commits document the use of Claude Opus 5.5 for various tasks, including refactoring audio message pool callers, fixing memory access issues in tests, and optimizing high-frame-rate pacing logic. The project includes a suite of tests that do not require a ROM to build or run. Source

setup
To build, use CMake 3.24+ and Ninja. On Linux: cmake -S . -B build/pc -G Ninja; cmake --build build/pc. Run the resulting binary with the path to the USA N64 ROM: ./rush2049pc PATH-TO-ROM.
